Kayla is a mysterious and beautiful barmaid who Naiyar meets in a tavern in the desert. She takes an unusual interest in the hapless young Djanki, who finds her captivating, and plies him with ale.

As Naiyar learns more about his new companion, he finds there is much more to her than meets the eye. He soon realises their meeting was no accident, and as the strange events of Naiyar's life begin to gain momentum, she helps him find the answers he seeks.
